It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Joseph Gould, 58 of Eskasoni on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Halifax Infirmary, Halifax.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Charles Noel and Annie Bridget (Basque) Gould.
In Charlie’s younger years he enjoyed playing softball and hockey and would play whenever he could. He also enjoyed the outdoors, walking his dogs and camping at Ben Eoin and Mala. Charlie worked many jobs throughout his life and found his passion in commercial fishing working 14 years with Crane Cove Fisheries in Eskasoni.
Charlie is survived by his loving partner Nora Dennis; daughter Charla (Irving); sons Rick (Jessie), Burton, Bradford ('Mawg’), Lukas (Jaden), all of Eskasoni; sisters Marjorie (Stan) Johnson, Jessie (Frankie) Gould-Stevens, Mary Ellen (Blair) Paul, Membertou; Anita (Esmond) Marshall; brothers Billy (Rita) Gould, John (Vera) Gould, Wagmatcook; Hubert (Connie) Gould, Ronnie (Carolyn); stepchildren Avery, Louis, Jack and Ellen Dennis; 15 grandchildren; his auntie Janie (Roddie) Gould, Eskasoni, and by several nieces, nephews and godchildren, Serena, Renee, Charlton and Kirk.
He was predeceased by wife Catherine Jean (Sylliboy); two infant sons, baby boy and Charles; brothers Ryan, Noel Joel, Terry; brother-in-law Reggie Sylliboy;stepson Warren Dennis and aunts Molly Hopkins and Clara Denny.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and Doctors at QEII, CCU, Halifax.
Visitation for the late Mr. Gould will begin after 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 21 at the Gabriel Center, Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
