It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Edward 'Teddy' Paruch, 84, on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Whitney Pier, Teddy was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Paruch.
Ted is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruby; two sons, Joe (Cindy) and David (Sheryl); daughters, Diane (Brad) and Cathy; son-in-law, Butch; sister, Wanda (John); grandchildren, Mickey, Brian, Tyla, Candice, Shannon, Julia and Josie; as well as seven great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughters, Debbie and Sandra; sisters, Stella, Minnie, Jenny, and a brother, Adam.
Ted was multi-talented and enjoyed success in everything he put his hand to. His natural athletic abilities saw him excel in hockey, baseball, and stock car/skidoo/harness racing. He wore many hats during his working career, including sales rep for Hostess Cakes, founder of Arctic Ice Company, which he and his wife started in their garage in Missouri, and owner/operator of Teds Texaco on Victoria Road, Sydney. White Eagle Stables where his skills as harness racing trainer, breeder and driver won him several awards including Driver of the Year, two years in a row. Ted was a much loved school bus driver for many years with the Cape Breton School Board. Passion for gardening showed in the abundance of fruits and vegetables his skillfully tended gardens produced each season. His flower gardens blossomed, bursting with color produced from seedlings he would lovingly tend to in his home made greenhouse.
Ted was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He lived a long, full life. His passing was peaceful and without pain. We will miss him dearly. Our memories will lend us comfort.
There will be no visitation or service, as per Ted's request. Cremation has taken place.
