It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alfred Peter MacLeod, 75, of Hillside Boularderie on May 19, 2015, at the Palliative Care Unit 'An Cala' with his loving family by his side.
Born in Florence, he was the son of the late Donald and Patricia (MacKinnon) MacLeod.
At the age of 19, Alfred joined the engineer division of the army but later switched to the surveyor division. Between the two divisions he spent 25 years in British Columbia, Germany, New Brunswick, England and Ottawa. Upon his retirement he continued to work for several more years as a commissionaire.
Throughout his years, Alfred had a love to travel around the world, play crib and always found great joy in visiting family and friends near and far. Many benefitted from his handyman talents. His handy work included upholstering furniture, building cabinets and the amazing work of building homes.
Alfred is survived by his beloved wife Rosemarie (Sablotny) of 54 years; son Martin, Waterloo, Ont.; daughters, Susan, Waterloo, Ont.; and Mariann (Michael) Moores, North Sydney; sisters, Louvine (Edward) Kemp, Hillside Boularderie, Charlotte (Donnie) MacInnis, Hillside Boularderie, and Mary Donna, Dartmouth; granddaughters, Jessica (Jesse Benedict) Moores, Krista (Adam Wynia) MacLeod and Serena Moores; grandson Justin MacLeod; great-grandchildren, Josie, Lyssa, Ella, Chyanne and Kayllie, as well as his Aunt Leanor and various cousins.
