It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Mr. Piearce Herbert Purcell, age 64 of Glace Bay on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Harbour Grace, N.L., Piearce was the son of Vera (Burden) Purcell and the late Patrick Purcell.
Piearce worked at the fish plant in Glace Bay for many years. He enjoyed sitting on his porch in the summer with his buddy, Sonny.
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his mother, Vera; his wife, Beatrice (Lahey) Purcell, formerly of Main-a-Dieu; his son, Patrick (Sandra); daughter, Marie; grandson, Jamie and step-granddaughter, Aimee. He will also be sadly missed by his brother, Reg (Ann Denise); his special little furry friend, Crystal; special caregiver, Dr. Cadegan; two nieces, Nicole and Vanessa; two grandnieces, Sarah and Hannah; one grandnephew, Nicholas; numerous aunts, uncles and many friends.
Besides his father, Piearce was predeceased by his two brothers, Paul and Lloyd.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m., both in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay, Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment in St. Anne’s Cemetery.
No flowers please. Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Society.
