McCabe, Ellen Mae, 103, Truro, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015 in The Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro. Born in Moose Brook, NS, she was a daughter of the late Roland and Maude (Kitchin) Hill. Ellen worked for many years at Lewis Hat Factory, Truro and Stanfield’s Ltd, Truro. She was a former 25 year member of the True Blue Lodge.
She is survived by grandchildren Ron McCabe (Judy), Shirley Kurivial (Basil), Steve McCabe (Shannon), Donna Mitchell, Susan Scott (Tim), Betty Ross (Peter); 13 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Murray McCabe; son Lewis McCabe; grandchildren Linda Banks, Sheila Doyle; sisters Hazel, Clara; brothers Wilfred, Chester, Charlie.
No visitation as per Ellen’s request. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. A family graveside service will take place at a later date. Donations in Ellen’s memory may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or to a charity of choice.
