GALLANT, BEN ALBENIE
Ben Albenie Gallant, 83, of Moncton, with his loving family at his side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Born in Léger’s Corner, he was the son of the late Emile and Margaret (Surrette) Gallant.
Ben was retired from the City of Moncton with over 35 years’ service. Ben was an avid sports fan, enjoyed painting, eating desserts and going to Tim Horton’s in the mornings with the boys and spending time with his family.
Ben will be sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Shirley (Douthwright) Gallant; daughters, Carolyn Gallant and Lenora McCarthy (Rick), both of Moncton and April Finelli of Ontario; sons Tim of Alberta, Colin of Ontario, Ron and Andrew (Gail) both of Moncton; grandchildren, Anthony and Michael Finelli; three brothers and four sisters; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sons, Thomas and Glenn “Bennie” Gallant; four brothers and two sisters.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Sharif and to the Nursing Staff of 6600 Unit of The Moncton Hospital for the care and compassion given to Ben during his stay.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to celebrate Ben’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Jonathan Gorham officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery.
In Ben’s memory, donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital (Oncology Unit) would be appreciated by the family.
