Lois (Louise) Vivian Waker passed away at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK on May 14, 2015 just 4 days prior to her 85th birthday. Lois was born in Swift Current, SK on May 18, 1930 to Florence and Elmer Howes and raised on the family farm near Success, SK attending the White Hall School. She married Darrol John Waker of Swift Current, SK on July 28, 1952 and began a life of running a household and raising a family. She enjoyed gardening, sewing for the kids and there always seemed to be an extra plate when company came. In the fall she made meals and took them out to the men harvesting the fields.
Lois is survived by Darrol Waker, her loving husband of over 62 years; 5 children: Steven Waker (Susan Burrell), Brian Waker, Debra (Doug) Sears, Kelvin (Deb) Waker and Rita Waker. Lois had eleven grandchildren: Logan Waker, Kent Waker, Skylar Waker, Danielle Waker, Morgan Waker, Cathryn Waker, Kristi Forbes, Kyla Forbes, Kendahl Scott, Marshal Waker, Keegan Waker and 3 great grandchildren: Baylee Forbes, Kayden Hrynkiw and Brooklyn Hrynkiw. She is also survived by her sisters: Edna (Bob) Stach, Elsie Brown and Winnie Gillespie.
Lois is predeceased by her parents Florance and Elmer Howes, her grandparents Augustus and Annie Howes, her sister Morna Perrin and her brothers Louis Trotter and Lawrence Howes.
We would like to thank the staff at the Cypress Regional Hospital and Cypress House for the excellent care of our Mom. The funeral service for Lois Waker was held on Saturday, May 30th at 3:00pm at the First United Church in Swift Current with Shirley Wilson officiating. The internment service followed the funeral service at Memory Gardens in Swift Current. We would also like to thank Warren’s Funeral Home for they expert assistance through this difficult time.
