Lucien Roy

Lucien Roy, age 91, passed away May 28, 2015. He is survived by his children, Maurice (Leslie), Rosaline (Robert), Estelle (Glen), Florence (Buddy), Daniel (Sherry), Alain (Earlean) and Leonard, 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; one sister Irene and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Lina, his parents Conrad and Olivine, his brother Roger, and grandson Dillon; brother-in-law Ron Hammer. Lucien was born on July 24, 1924 on the farm at Vallee St. Claire and grew up there. He married Lina on October 21, 1947 and started their family on the same farm and later moved to the farm north of Cadillac, eventually moving the family to live in Kelowna, B.C. and then moving back to Swift Current. His last years were spent at Bridges Personal Care Home and Foyer St Joseph Nursing Home in Ponteix. He was a lifetime member of the Knight of Columbus, having been active in the organization, especially during his years in Kelowna. He loved to work outside, either on the farm in the orchard or just around the yard at home. The funeral mass was held at Notre Dame d'Auvergne Roman Catholic Church on Monday, June 1, 2015 with Father Guy Amedee Ainemon officiating. The cross bearer was Andre Carignan. The Pallbearers were Shaun Roy, Brett Button, Jared Button, Brayden Roy, Aaron Roy and Alexandre Ouellet. The readers were Marc Carignan and Sophie Carignan. Offerings were presented by Tanya Dykema and Michelle Button. Life Tribute was given by Eugene Carignan and members of the Knight of Columbus formed the honor guard. The interment service will take place at a later date in the Ponteix Parish Cemetery. In Lucien's memory, memorial donations may be made to the Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home or the Ponteix Lab Equipment Fund. Lemieux Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
