It is with saddened hearts, that we the family, announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Mary Josephine Boone 'Mamie' at the age of 80.
She passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the Glace Bay Hospital with her loved ones by her side.
Born in Sydney on April 22, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Annie (Zahara ) and Nicholas Marmulak.
She will be dearly missed by her sons, Ronnie, Kenny (Joanne), Dennis (Wilma) and Blair.
Also surviving is her brother, Michael (Marion) Marmulak; sister-in-law and best friend, Pauline Kennedy; sister-in-law, Anne Boone and her brother-in-law, Francis (Lil) Boone.
Her grandchildren knew her affectionately as "Nanny" - Shelly (Korey), Linda, Nicholas (Bhreagh), Nathan, Breagh (Chris), Adria, Kyle, Kassie, Saxon and Madison; great-grandchildren, Cohen, Taryn, Harper, Jaxon and her goddaughter, Katherine Shaw, who meant so much to her.
To them, Nanny was a giver, always doing for everyone and expecting nothing but the presence of those she loved in return. Nanny was a special kind of person, loved by all who knew her. Nanny was kind, gentle, shy and most of all a very selfless individual.
Beside her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Adrian; brothers-in-law, Dave Kennedy, Gilbert Boone and Bernie MacPhee; sisters-in-law, Judy Marmulak and Rose Marie MacPhee.
The family would like to thank the staff of third floor south at the Glace Bay Hospital, Dr. David Ley, Dr. Carol Boutilier, palliative care, the V.O.N. and county homemakers.
Family request family flowers only. All donations may be made to palliative care.
Cremation has taken place.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
The funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport at 11 a.m. on Thursday with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery. All are invited to join the family for a reception in the church hall.
