Hazel Hurley

HURLEY (CROWLEY), HAZEL AGNES
Hazel Agnes Hurley died peacefully at Thomas Hall, Shannex in Fredericton, NB on June 2, 2015 at the age of 79. Hazel, of Newmarket, was born in Fredericton, NB on June 28, 1935, the daughter of the late Theresa Crowley.
She was predeceased by her husband John Lewis Hurley; daughter-in-law Francine.
Surviving are her children Edward (Gina St-Laurent, children Grant and Amy and step-children Edrick and Kelsey), Tim (France, children Trevor (his wife Jasmine) and Alicia), Christine (Randy, children Joshua and Bradley), Susan (Les, child Amber with great-grandchildren Aalyah, Austin, Caleb and Ethan), Patsy (children Samantha and Paige), Kevin (Susan, children Angelina, Errol and Benjamin) and Kenneth (Suzanne, children Janique, Jordan and Josee); a sister Bernice Coburn (Hayes Messer); nieces and nephews Brian, Richard, Sherry and Corine.
Hazel believed in a hard day’s work, taught her children by example and supported her community of neighbours and of her faith, especially as a proud charter member for 50 years with the Catholic Women’s League. She was proud of her 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her early life was a farming lifestyle, business school, marriage followed by a large family and her own desire to work again for her own independence with Sunny Glen Eggs (Keswick Ridge). While much of her retirement life was solitary with the sudden loss of her husband in 2000, Hazel and John explored much of North America in their home-on-wheels. To her last days Hazel showed her sense of humour in moments of difficulty, maintained her dignity and respect for others. Her faith kept her strong in will and ready for the hereafter.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Rd., Fredericton, NB (506-458-1885). Visitations will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church (Newmarket) on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
