With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John Edward Spencer on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Dominion, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Evangeline (McIntyre) Spencer.
John was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport. John was employed at Devco for many years. He was also a member of the Rowe Street Athlete Club and the Army Navy Air Force, Glace Bay. John enjoyed his many visits to Tim Horton’s.
John is survived by his daughters, Alice (Dave) Kelloway, Glace Bay, Sherry Lynn Steele, Fort St. John’s, Janie (Shane) Boutilier; sons, Greg (Shauna), John Bernard (Michelle), John Robert (Emily), Tommy Steele, all of Glace Bay; sister, Judy (Lambert) Frison, Reserve; a brother, Pius; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 6th from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Fr. Danny Boudreau will be held 11 a.m. Monday in Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport. Cremation to follow. Interment at a later date in the parish cemetery.
