Born: August 26th, 1947

Passed in: Medford
Passed on: June 3rd, 2015

Barbara "Barb" Shirley (nee Buckler) Lombard, of Medford, Kings County, died at home, on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, after a lengthy illness. She was 67. Born in Windsor, NS, on August 26, 1947, she was the elder daughter of Everett and Greta Buckler of Halifax, NS. She is survived by her husband and selfless care-giver, Bill; one sister, Debbie (Danny Smith); one brother, Joel Buckler (Kim); her particularly devoted aunt, Glenda Fielding; nephews, Dave Smith and Nick Buckler; and niece, Holly Buckler; as well as many dearly-loved aunts, uncles, and cousins ... and Velvet, her sweet and gentle Black Lab. She was predeceased by her parents and her first husband, Harry Druggett. Barb grew up in Fairview with a whole posse of close friends, many of whom have kept in touch to this day. She spent her working years as a highly-valued administrative assistant with Canada Packers until 1985, when she joined Billy on his Medford farm. She was an incredibly artistic and talented woman with a great sense of humour. Always, giving, generous, and kind, "Barbie" (as her father once said) "has a heart as big as all outdoors!" Though she had no children of her own, kids adored her and she was the Pied Piper of the neighbourhood and of her extended family. A lover of nature and all animals, and always a champion of the less fortunate, Barb was a beautiful soul. The world is a poorer place without her. Should you wish to honour Barb's life and memory, please choose any way that is close to your heart. Make a charitable donation to the care givers at the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses or the charity of your choice, plant some flowers, adopt a dog, help a child or a senior ... anything in the spirit of giving. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015, Reverend Gordon Druggett officiating. Burial will take place in St. John's Cemetery, Fairview. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
