Morrison, Betty “Laverne” – 71, Truro passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015 with her family by her side at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Windsor, she was the only daughter of the late Lloyd and Edna (Dearmond) Morrison. She moved to Glenhome at an early age and upon graduation then moved to Truro. Laverne graduated from Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing, New Glasgow in 1966. She was employed at the Colchester Regional Hospital as a registered nurse, for thirty years before retiring. Laverne loved to travel throughout the world, enjoyed photography and spent many a glorious summer at her cottage in Spencer’s Point. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and was very active in the local arthritis society. Laverne had a vast group of close friends and family, all of whom she enjoyed keeping in contact. She is survived by her aunts, Helen Fraser, Halifax, Elizabeth Collins, Beaverbrook, Doris McCallum (Sylvester), Beaverbrook, Shirley Sponagle, Bible Hill; numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, several uncles and aunts. The family wish to thank the staff of ICU and Emergency at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their care. No visitation by request. A service of Celebration will be held at Erskine United Church, Glenholme on Tuesday, June 9 at 2 pm, Rev. Carol Gillard officiating. Interment will follow at Folly Village Cemetery, Glenholme. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Folly Village Cemetery, Glenholme.
