STELLARTON – Daniel Aulden “Dan” Sample, 81, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of Stellarton, passed away Friday, June 5, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late Robert Hugh and Catherine May (MacEachern) Sample. He was a member of First United Baptist Church, New Glasgow. Prior to retirement in 1991, he was employed with Michelin Tire, Granton for many years. He was a member and past Master of Keith Lodge, A.F. & A.M., No. 23, Stellarton.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie Jean (Pickles), Stellarton; daughter, Amanda Peterson, Pickering, Ont.; sons, Andrew (Gail), Stellarton; Jonathan, Tofield, Alta.; sister, Roberta (John) Somer, Cardigan, P.E.I.; sisters-in-law, Annie Sample, Phoebe Sample, Caroline Dort and Sophia Pickles; seven grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Patricia, Elizabeth and Ferne; brothers, James, Frank, Roy, William and Robert.
In keeping with Dan’s wishes there will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held in Lorne Street Cemetery at a later date.
The Sample family wish to express their deep gratitude to the nurses and staff of Valley View Villa for the excellent care Dan received.
