Douglas Roy Morris

Born In: Robinsons Nfld.

Passed in: Sydney Forks, Nova Scotia, Canada

A life well lived full of joy, peace, kindness and goodness has been completed with the passing of Douglas Roy Morris on June 3, 2015, as he wished at his home.
Douglas was a loving husband, father, grandfather. He will be forever missed by his wife, Agnes, family and friends for his extreme kindness and generosity of self. Douglas always spoke with intent and never with attention. He never found fault instead looked for remedies. His love of all family never diminished and Douglas remained proud of all their accomplishments.
Douglas was born in Robinsons, Nfld., the son of William and Caroline (Shears) Morris. He followed a family tradition with a love of the sea and in the footsteps of his maternal uncles noted sailing masters. Douglas distinguished himself as a marine engineer sailing most oceans and visited most continents while sailing world wide. He became senior chief engineer for over 40 years with Marine Atlantic and retired in 1990 to enjoy all that nature had to offer on his beautiful and well loved acreage, marveling each and every day at it's beauty. This was the place he enjoyed while listening to his extensive record collection; always welcoming friends and family with great impromptu sing-alongs. Douglas was an active participant in all community life.
As we mourn the loss of Douglas we celebrate his life with gratitude and love in his memory let us all reach out to one another with an act of kindness.
A graveside service will be held on 2 p.m. Monday, June 8th at St. Bees' Cemetery, Westville with the Rev. Marilyn Haugen-Strand officiating.
