Alton John Chessie died suddenly at his home in Yoho, NB on June 4, 2015 at the age of 64. He was born at the Harvey Hospital in 1950 and resided in Yoho all of his life. Alton was predeceased by his parents, John and Mabel Chessie.
He is survived by his wife Linda, of 45 years; his daughter Shelly (Robert) MacQuarrie; son Jason; his granddaughter Amber and grandson Justin; brothers Lewis (Nancy) Chessie, Lynn (Theresa) Chessie both of Yoho, brother Lorne at the Gagetown Special Care Home. Alton received his first job at Kings Landing at 16 years of age. He worked there diligently for 45 years as maintenance supervisor. He received his carpenter’s license in 1970 from the St. John Technical College. He retired from King’s Landing in October 2004 and received a Prestigious Recognition Award for 45 years of dedicated work at King’s Landing. Needless to say, he worked hard all of his life and no job was too big for him. He excelled at giving a helping hand to anyone at any time. He loved the outdoors and living by Yoho Lake. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and four wheeling. He loved taking his grandson Justin on fishing and hunting expeditions. Alton’s wife Linda says that he loved his granddaughter more than life itself. According to his family, Alton was the best man in the whole wide world. He was just a great big teddy bear who will be dearly missed. He was very faithful to his church and religion. His faith kept him strong and he never missed going to church on Saturday or Sunday.
