The death occurred peacefully at the Garden Home, Charlottetown, on Sunday, June 7, 2015, of Irene Gallant (nee Peters), wife of the late Leo J. Gallant, formerly of Mayfield, aged 89.
Irene was the beloved mother of Carolyn Nantes (Desi), Richard (Audrey), Frank (Theresa), Shirley Gallant (Gerry), Jerry (Alice), John (Patti), Denis, Ida McCourt (Greg) and Ernie (Faye); mother-in-law of Mary Alice Gallant and Bill Robertson; grandmother of 30 and great-grandmother of 23. Besides her husband, Leo J. Gallant, she was predeceased by her son, Tony; daughter, Leona Robertson; and twelve brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sisters, Helen Doiron, Margaret Gauthier (Chip) and Eunice Gillis (John); sisters-in-law, Rose Marie Peters and Chris Peters; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She will also be remembered by many in-laws from Leo's family.
Resting at Central Queen's Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The CWL will hold a Prayer Service, prior to the visitation, at 6:15 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Hope River, on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Ann's Cemetery.
