MELVIN, DONALD RICHARD
Donald “Donnie” R. Melvin, 72, of Berry Mills, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, June 10, 2015. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Leslie and Bertha (Fitzsimmons) Melvin.
Donnie was a retired labourer. A true woodsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, going for drives on the back roads and spending time with his family.
Donnie will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 47 years, Connie (Horsman) Melvin; precious daughters, Sherry Landry (Dan) and Kelly McCully, both of Berry Mills and Lori Melvin (Jim) of Moncton; cherished grandchildren, Ricky Bannister, Megan Bannister, Alicia Bannister, Tyler McCully and Madison McCully; sisters, Jean Cudmore and Nellie Horsman (Curtis), both of Berry Mills; brother, Stanley Melvin; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Henry and Allen; sisters, Edna Steeves and Florence Arsenault; granddaughter, Alexis Melvin; great-grandson, Bentley Bannister.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to celebrate Donnie’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 1:30 pm, with Rev. Dale Thistle officiating. Interment immediately following the service at Birch Hill Cemetery, Berry Mills. Following the interment, a reception will be held at the home of Donnie’s daughter, Sherry Landry.
In memory of Donnie, donations to the Kidney Foundation or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
