It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Regis Bernice (Browner) Winstanley on June 9, 2015.
Regis was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She is survived by her children, James Winstanley (Sandra); daughter, Bernice Sparrow (William); grandchildren, James Thomas, Nicole also known as Chick-a-Dee, Justin also known as Boo and her brother, Connie Browner (Erica), Sudbury, Ont., Mary Gouthro from Reserve Mines and Camella Peck from Catalone. She will be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Ann Margaret (MacNeil) Browner; husband, Wayne Winstanley and longtime friend, Russell Wilton; brothers, Alex Browner, Ignatius Browner (Iggie), Miles Browner; brother in infancy, Cornelius Browner; sisters, Katherine (Browner) ‘Katie’ Burke and Sara (Browner) ‘Sadie’ Hines.
Born July 3, 1942 in Dominion, where she was raised. In her earlier days Regis enjoyed bowling and playing cards on Sunday nights with her sisters and mother. They enjoyed a game of auction while eating tea biscuits and homemade beans made by Nannie Browner. Regis loved her family and enjoyed spending quality time with them, especially her grandchildren. She liked it when friends and family dropped by to visit.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 1 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Service to follow in the chapel at 2 p.m., officiated by Fr. Leo Boone. Interment will be held in St. John’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.
