It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Bernice Parsons on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the An Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Born at Wadden's Cove she was the daughter of the late William (Billie) and the late Mary Jane (Ferguson) Boutilier. Bernice was a member of St. Mary's Anglican Church.
In her younger years Bernice was employed at Zilbert's and Shore's Grocery Stores. She was a full time homemaker, mother, and grandmother. Bernice spent her summers at her second home at MacDougall's Gulch, NFL, where evenings were spent around a bonfire with her Newfoundland family and friends. She took special pride in her yard and had quite the green thumb. Bernice decorated extensively for all holidays with her Halloween displays being legendary.
Bernice is survived by her husband of 57 years, Calvin B. Parsons; daughter Sharon (Rob) Tonary; son Bruce (Lucia); daughter Sheila (Harvey); son Brian (Angela); son Glen (Roberta) and special son Kyle. Grandchildren Ian Tonary, Kyle( Brittany McNeil) and Devin Parsons, Jeffery, Matthew, and Jordan Parsons, Ryan and Rebecca Parsons; and great-grandchild Bryleigh; brothers Clarence and Dougie (Brenda) Boutilier.
Predeceased by her brothers Earl, Melvin, and Jimmy; sisters Catherine and Frances; and grandsons Johnathan and Malcolm.
Arrangements under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home, funeral service will be held on Monday, June 1st, 2015 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Anglican Church, Glace Bay. Reverend Vernon Reid officiating with Internment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 10 - 11 a.m. in the church foyer. Luncheon to follow after the service.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Mary's Anglican Church or to the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.
