Barbara Nowaczek, age 91, Oxford. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt on Saturday, April 25, 2015.
Born in Leogang, she grew up in ZellumSee, Austria, where she resided until 1953 when she embarked on a journey that brought her and three young children to Canada by ship. She settled in the Oxford area with husband, Joe, and raised her family. She worked for a number of years at Gordon’s Greenhouses and then at Stanfields where she remained until she retired to look after her husband Joe. She took great pride in her family and encouraged us all in our future endeavors. She loved having family around, loved her animals and loved to garden.
She is survived by sons, Ernest (Irene), Breadalbane, PEI; Ronald (Brenda), Oxford; daughters, Linda (Curtis) Boylan, New Ross; Elizabeth Nowaczek, Amherst; Mary Ann Nowaczek, Halifax; daughter-in-law, Dianne, Rothesay, NB; sisters, Emma, Stuttgart, Germany; Sefa, Leogang, Austria; grandchildren, Katherine (Phil), Zoe, Emilie, Aaron (Maryann), Darcy, Paul, Crystal, Christine, Luke (Rebecca); several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe; son, John; daughter, Sophia; brothers, Hans and Raimond; sister, Frances.
There will be a time of visiting from 2- 3 p.m. followed immediately by a funeral service, at 3 p.m., Sunday, June 14 all in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home, 5075 Main Street, Oxford (902-447-2930). Donations may be made to the Oxford Food Bank or to the L.A. Animal Shelter or to an animal shelter of your choice.
