MORRISON, BARBARA CAROLINE
It is with great sadness the family of Barbara Morrison announce her peaceful passing, which occurred at the Rockyview General Hospital during her vacation in Calgary, Alberta. When she became ill, her loving family made the trip to be at her side as she passed on in love and comfort. Born in Temple, NB on February 5, 1922 she was a daughter of the late Harry and Lela (Morrell) Wright and wife of the late Graham Morrison.
Barbara was a cherished member of both her family and her community. Her family was always first in her heart, and her bags were always packed so she could be ready to travel and visit them on a moment’s notice. She was an active member of Portland United Church, as a member of many organizations including the quilter’s guild, as well as the Ada Myles Unit followed by the Jessie Langille Unit which is presently known as the Women of Portland. Barbara was a member of the Foxy Red Hatters, the Pythian Sisters, Orange Lodge, and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 64. She curled for many years at Thistle St. Andrews and was also a devoted volunteer for over 30 years to Meals on Wheels as well as the Church of St. John & St. Stephen Home.
She will be missed by her daughters, Marianne Haines (Peter) and Karen Belzil (Gene); grandchildren, Glen Haines (Chris Thomson), Melanie Webb (Jason), Chris Belzil (Kelly), Marc Belzil (Talia), Andrew Morrison (Christa Morissey) and Aimee Emery (Jamie); great-grandchildren, Adrienne, Mikayla and Mason Webb, Grace Belzil, Mya Emery and Sebastian Belzil; a brother, Marshall Wright (Kay); Daughter-in-law, Linda Morrison; sisters-in-law, Muriel Wright, Hetty Wright and Ruby Morrison; several nieces and nephews; as well as a large circle of friends at the Carleton Kirk Lodge where she resided.
In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was predeceased by a son, Christopher “Sandy” Morrison; brothers, Franklin, Preston and Theodore Wright; sister-in-law, Nancy Morrison; and brothers-in-law, Ross and Rowley Morrison.
