Andrew Kenzie Marshall, 75, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on June 21, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Most people who hear the name Kenzie Marshall will remember him from the taxi business he ran for 18 years. Serving all areas between Sydney and Port Hawkesbury. What most don't know, is that he was also an AA councilor in Halifax for Nadaca Mikmaq Addictions. He was also a carpenter for years in Potlotek. Kenzie was also a skilled boxer ranked in the top 10 in Nova Scotia. Kenzie was a friend to many and would gladly listen to or share a story with all. He loved a good laugh. He was a kind giving man who would give the shirt off his back in a heartbeat or help in any way he could. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Diane Alfreda Edmunds Marshall; daughters, Mary Collier (George), Karen (Ernest O'toole), Gwenn Marshall (Francis Peters), Kyanne Marshall, all of Chapel Island, Andrea Stevens (Scot), Charmaine Greencorn (Kelly), Roberta Marshall, Andrea Dennis, Tabitha Dennis, all of Sydney, Robin Dennis, Eskasoni; sons, Jimmy Marshall (Dawn), Michael Marshall (Tammy), Thomas Marshall, all of Chapel Island; grandchildren, Virginia, Bryan, Nathan, Matthew, Patrick, April, Peter, James, Zondra, Stacy, Raymond, Shaniya, Terra, Andrew, Alex, Andre G, Eliza, Winter, Alicia, Brooke, Jessica, Wesley, Andre Z, Tracy, Cameron, Kodi, Kendra, Shelby; numerous great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Natasha French and Robert Lee French, both of Sydney. He is also survived by his first cousin, John R. Prosper.
Andrew was predeceased by his parents, James 'Jix' Marshall of Bayfield, Mary Ellen Marshall (Nicholas) of Potlotek, his son in infancy; grandchildren, Robert Kenny George, Gregory Michael, Rayne Dennis; brothers, Allister Marshall, Chapel Island, John Andrew Marshall, Afton; sister, Anne Dion, Dunvagan, Ont.
Visitation will be held in Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Chapel in Potlotek on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Farewell will be held on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Barra Head with Rev. Rev. John Yake officiating. Burial to follow in Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery, Barra Head. A Salite will follow the committal in the Potlotek Community Hall.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at the Strait Richmond Hospital Dialyses Unit and to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, CCU.
