Mary Catherine Chezenko

Born In: Sydney

Passed in: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: June 21st, 2015

Mary Catherine Chezenko, 95, formerly of Sydney Forks, passed away peacefully at the QEII Hospital in Halifax on Sunday, June 21, 2015.
Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Matilda Muise.
Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. We will fondly remember Mom for her sharp wit, keen mind, laughter and sense of humour. She loved tea with something sweet, playing cribbage and scat with her kids, jigsaw puzzles, lexicons, scratch tickets, knitting (except those pesky toe bits on socks), and especially visits from her children.
She is survived by her children, Joe (Nina) Chezenko, Bev (Paddy) Power, Jon (Pam) Chezenko, Ron (Debbie) Chezenko, Wanda Chezenko and Dawn (Charles) Wagg; dear sister, Rita McGibbon; grandchildren, Sean and Stacey Power, Jaclyn and Joey Chezenko, and Zoe, Jessie and Sadie Chezenko; and great-grandchildren, Kate and Julia Power.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Frank, in April 2014. Also predeceased by her brothers, Donnie, Joseph and Arthur Muise.
Special thanks to the VON, paramedics, and the doctors and staff at the QEII who cared for Mom in her final hours. Also a special thank you to neighbours, Art and Sheila Amos, for all they did for Mom and Dad over the years.
A funeral service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel, 49 Welton St. on Thursday, June 25th, at 11 a.m. A private burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Sydney Forks.
Memorials in Mom’s memory may be made to Loaves and Fishes in Sydney, VON, or the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Words of comfort can be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca, or email sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca.
