Arthur Roy 'Artie' Latimer

With love and sadness we announce that Artie Latimer of Arichat passed peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
He was the son of the late Charles 'Charlie' and Augusta (MacArthur) Latimer.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Geraldine (King) Latimer and his daughter, Charlene (Ralston/'Sonny') MacDonnell. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Vanessa MacDonnell (Leo Russomanno) and Jasmine MacDonnell (Lee Odlin), and was inspired by his great-granddaughter, Frida MacDonnell Russomanno. He is also survived by his sister, June Oliver and his many loved nieces and nephews. He will be missed dearly by his many, many friends.
He was predeceased by sisters, Shirley Mae and Marion and by brothers, Kenneth 'Buddy' and Nelson. Artie was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church where he served for many years as a Warden.
He spent the first half of his working life in the construction business, working hand in hand with his father. For his remaining working years he was employed with the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation, where he retired from in 1993.
Visitation will be held at C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat, on Wednesday, June 24th from 6-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Arichat at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 25th with Rev. Douglas MacDonald officiating. Burial will take place in St. John’s Anglican Cemetery. Following the committal, a reception will be held at the New Horizon's Senior's Club.
Artie had a deep love of children. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Chisholm Services for Children, 5724 South St., Halifax, N.S., B3H 1S4.
