It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our precious mother, Mary Cecilia Boutilier, 74 of Reserve Mines. Mom passed away June 21, 2015 at The Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with her family by her side.
Born in Reserve Mines, she was the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Hines) Boutilier, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a hardworking woman and always put her family first, ensuring they never went without.
She loved to bake and no one could make a coconut cream pie like hers. Friends were always welcome to drop in for a cup of tea and something sweet. Mary also had a special affection for animals, especially dogs and could always be called upon to take care of them for us, and she would always feed them one too many treats!
Above all she had an undying love for her family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she loved to spend time, she affectionately called them "Nana's Babies", they will never forget her.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Brenda) Boutilier of Reserve Mines and their children, Steven and Amanda; Derrick (Lynn) Boutilier of Sydney and their children, Cassidy and Kaelyn; nephews, Tom Leduc and Robert and Bradley Boutilier. She also had several good friends, along with their families who meant the world to her.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, George and Cecil; her sisters, Margaret Campbell and Ann Leduc, who she was very close to.
In honouring her wishes, cremation has taken place, under the direction and care of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home,16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. There will be no visitation a funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines. Interment will follow in parish cemetery with a reception in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia SPCA, Cape Breton Branch or a charity of one’s choice.
