ANETTA MAE ATKINSON
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Anetta Mae Atkinson, on June 21, 2015. She was a loving mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed and cherished by her family and friends. She will now be reunited with her husband Ross, the love of her life, as well as her oldest son Russel Sutor; stepson Gerry Atkinson; brothers Russel, Lorne, Glen and her sister Arva. Anetta was born in Kincaid, SK in 19??. Don’t want to disclose the year as she would not approve. Anetta was predeceased by her first husband Steve Sutor in 1959 and is survived by her daughter Dianne (Butch) Lasek and son Don (Patti) Sutor; sister in-laws Audrey Sutor, Joy Begg & Shirley Sparrow. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Anetta lost her first husband and father of her children in 1959 in Mossbank. After selling the farm she moved to Moose Jaw. She worked various jobs and eventually became the first female Credit Union Manager in Saskatchewan. Anetta & Ross were married in 1972 and together were successful in the hospitality industry and farming. In 1980 they retired and purchased a winter home in Apache Wells, in Mesa, Arizona. In 1984 they moved from Saskatchewan to Nanaimo, BC. They enjoyed travelling, in their motor homes, across Canada and throughout the USA. They shared a wonderful life together. Ross passed away in January 2002 in Nanaimo, Anetta returned to Saskatchewan to be closer to her children. Anetta loved sports. She was an avid curler, bowler and golfer. She was a perfectionist in each and every way. Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, knitting, bridge, paper-tole and shopping. She was a fabulous cook and loved to entertain. The more the merrier; her door was always open! The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care she received at the Long Lake Integrated Facility in Imperial. The staff showed professionalism along with so much kindness and compassion. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Leanne Antufeaff who spent countless hours visiting Mom at the home. Anetta requested that there be no funeral service but in her wisdom she would enjoy a gathering of friends and family for a celebration at a later date. (The date is still to be determined.)
