Freda Catherine MacAdam, 88, of Northside East Bay passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Glen Tosh, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Myles and Kate (Stowe) MacLeod.
She was a member of St Mary's parish, East Bay. Freda loved to have company and delighted in her growing family, especially the great-grandchildren. She always had the teapot on with some goodies to go with it.
Freda is survived by daughters, Brenda (Adrian) Murphy, Northside East Bay, Sheila Walker (Daryl Fry), Florence and Michelle, Northside East Bay; sons, Billy (Holly), Ian (Cheryl), both of Ontario, Michael (Sylvia) and Kevin (Darlene), both of Northside East Bay; sister, Doris MacKinnon, Sydney; brothers, C.L. (Catherine) MacLeod and Calder (Ruth) MacLeod, both of Ontario; in-laws, Stella MacDonald, Dolly MacAdam, Neddy MacAdam and Donald (Liz) MacAdam, all of Ontario; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael MacAdam (1998), son, Allan, sisters, Lucy (M.W. MacLeod), Florence (Allison MacMillan), Elsie (Allan MacLeod), Evelyn (John D. MacNeil), brothers, Lorne, Ralph (Betty), Winston, Allister, in-laws, Edgar MacKinnon, Billy MacAdam, John MacAdam, Francis (Kay ) MacAdam, Myrtle (Michael) MacGillvray and Bernice (Angus) Cameron.
A special thank you to Dr. Clay Butler, Dr. John Archibald, Dr. Sabe De and Dr. Craig Stone as well as the nurses of the CC unit, Jennifer Bettens and Pamela MacGillivary. Their care and concern was outstanding.
Visitation for the late Freda Catherine MacAdam will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on July 1 at St. Mary’s Church, East Bay, Rev. Frank Abbass will officiate. Interment in parish cemetery.
