Margaret Anna Johnson

Johnson, Margaret Anna, age 97, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side on June 18, 2015 at Wynn Park Villa. Born in Stellarton, NS on December 28, 1917 to the late Ernest and Leah (Rutherford) Cummings. At 7 months her Mother passed away and Margaret was raised by her maternal grandparents Hiram & Eveline Fulton. They lived at Prince’s Lodge, Halifax County prior to moving to Summerland, BC. residing there for 6 years, upon returning to NS they settled in Bible Hill where she met her future husband Leo Johnson. During their 64 years together they made many friends, enjoyed dancing, bowling and traveling. Summers were spent at their cottage at Brule enjoying Saturday sing-alongs and games of horseshoes. Marg is survived by two daughters Gayle (Hugh) Joudrey, Marie (Jim) MacAfee and Sally VanWart who was considered “just like another daughter”; four grandchildren, Michelle (Toby) McElroy, Dartmouth, Scott Joudrey, Truro, Julee (late Paul Clark) MacAfee, Earltown and Toni (Jeff Callagan) MacAfee, Halifax; six great grandchildren, Larika, Traylyn, Chelsea, Ryan, Molly and Emma; siblings, Robert (Bob) Cummings, Summerside, PEI and Lola (Stewart) Lynds, North River; several nieces and nephews. Marg was predeceased by her husband Leo and siblings full sister Evelyn (late John) Soper, Halifax, Millard Rector, James Rector, Melita Geldart, Mina Canning, Lois (Tiny) Smith, Dot Quigley, Jean Lambke, Bill Cummings and Donald (Donnie) Cummings. Marg will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. A special thanks to Dr. Trevor Locke, to Wynn Park Villa, especially to the compassionate and caring staff. We wish to express our gratitude for the compassion and friendship given to the family during this time. Mom so considered it her home and enjoyed her stay there. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Friday, July 3 from 1:00 pm until time of the memorial service at 2:00 pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Valerie Kingsbury officiating. Reception to follow. Burial at Crossroads Cemetery, Valley. Donations may be made to First United Church (Building Fund) or The Parkinson’s Foundation.
