It is with great sadness that the family of the late Peter Joseph Mahar of Bird Cove announces his passing at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on June 13, 2015 in his 90th year. He leaves to mourn a loving family: children Ellen (Tony), Jean, Noreen, Joe (Darlene), Josephine (Riley), Hiram (Todd), Terrance (Karen), Wade (Judy), Monica (Percy), Mary (Danny), and Dennis (Wanda) and brother Pat, brother-in-law Victor (Mary); 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife Maggie (nee Caines), his parents James and Helen (nee Pittman) Mahar, and brother James (Hilda), sisters Alice Myers (Jim), Mary Kennedy (Wes), Theresa Doyle (Pat), Elizabeth Caines (Douglas), Rita Caines (Raymond), Johanna Caines (Peter) and sister-in-law Dorothy. Visitation took place at Our Lady of Grace Parish, Bird Cove from where the funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 16 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Bosco and Fr. O‘Quinn officiating. Interment followed at the Bird Cove Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. He will live on in our hearts forever.
