1934-2015
Irène Guitard, 80, of Dieppe, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 28, 2015 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC surrounded by her family. Born on October 4, 1934 in Saint-Anselme, she was the daughter of the late Archille and Mélanie (LeBlanc) LeBlanc.
Following her studies at Notre-Dame d’Acadie in Moncton, she married the love of her life, Victor. Together they raised five children with love, patience, and humor. Irène was an avid volunteer with the NB Liberal Association, the Hospital Auxiliary and numerous church committees. Her love of singing was shared with various choirs over the years. She loved to travel and felt especially happy surrounded by her family and good food.
She will be sadly missed by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Victor; two daughters: Giselle Price (Richard) of Fredericton and Nicole Dennis (Bruce) of France; three sons: Daniel (Pat) of Moncton, Jon (Jayne) of Barachois and Marc (Julia) of Dieppe; seven grandchildren whom she adored: Dione, Patrick, Ben, JC Ben, Nina, Lauren and Maxime; one great-granddaughter, Lia; one sister, Lorette Melanson of Scoudouc; one brother, Raymond (Lorette) of Waltham, Mass.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters: Marie and Dora; three brothers: Fred, Léo and Thomas.
The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to Dr. Do, Dr. Desilets, the Extra Mural staff, the Palliative Care volunteers as well as many other health care professionals who helped her during her lengthy illness.
A celebration of her life will be held at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Friday July 3, 2015 at 3 pm. Visiting hours are Friday from 1 pm until time of funeral. A reception will follow at the centre. Interment will be in Frenette Columbarium, Moncton. In memory of Irène, a contribution to the Palliative Care Volunteers Beauséjour Inc. would be appreciated.
