CUTHBERTSON, HILDA - Hilda Margaret (née Knowles) Cuthbertson 29 July 1923 to 2 July 2015 (91 years) Born in Saint John to William and Hazel Knowles, Hilda spent most of her life in the Saint John area before moving to Westfield on her beloved St John River. A stay-at-home mom, she had plenty of stories about working uptown at MRAs, a war-time courtship to her Kemie, and skating on Lily Lake. Later in life many happy hours were spent boating, waterskiing and snowmobiling, and hosting parties for "Club". She tirelessly worked on church projects, taught Sunday School and was a longtime member of the church 55 Plus-Club. Game for anything, she was seen on a motorcycle on her 90th birthday.
Hilda is survived by her three children Richard (Eve) of Oak Point, Deborah (Rev. John Boyd) of Halifax, LCol Barbara (Rev. Brad Putnam) of Ottawa, and grandchildren Anthony, Tracey, David, Adam, Alaina and 1 great-grandson, Christian. She is also survived by a very special niece, Claire Fairweather to whom we owe a huge debt of gratitude.
Hilda was predeceased by her husband Kenneth and her sister Helen.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A private family memorial was held on Friday, 3 July. Interment will be at a later date. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Kennebec Manor for their care of mom these last three years.
