With broken hearts we regret to announce the death of Sandy Cooke, son of Clara and the late Leonard Cooke. Following a courageous battle with AML Leukemia, Sandy passed away at 52 years on Friday, July 3, 2015 in Halifax at the VG Hospital, with his wife and best friend, Sheila, by his side.
He is survived by his mother, Clara Cooke (nee Wyman); loving wife, Sheila Cooke (nee MacDonald); children, Beverly Swan (Carl) and James Raoul (Lori); grandchildren, Tye Swan, Logan and Connor Raoul; special feline friend, “Spook”; brother, Kevin (Shiela) of Sydney, Ricky (Audrey) of North Sydney, Timmy (Colleen) of Sydney; mother and father-in-law, James and Jeanette MacDonald of Guysbrough; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Chiasson (Marc) of Bedford, Grace Deveau (Raymond) of Meteghan and Myrna Lumsden (Jim) of Lower Sackville; brother-in-law, James M. MacDonald (Danielle) of Springhill; as well as several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Sandy was predeceased by his father, Leonard; brothers, David and Bruce.
Sandy was a skilled truck driver who received numerous awards and championships. He was employed with Armour Transportation Systems for 20 years with over 2 million miles of safe driving in his lifetime. He enjoyed anything motorized, being an avid Nascar and local racing fan.
Sandy was a family man at heart and loved spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He also looked forward to spending time with his buddies at the bungalow in Oyster Cove.
A visitation is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at TW Curry Parkview Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Christ the King Anglican Church with Rev. G. Kent officiating.
