In her 75th year, following a 5 year valiant battle with ALS, Joanne Nelson passed away on July 2, 2015 in Calgary, AB.
Joanne was born in Kinkora, P.E.I. in 1939. Following graduation from high school she entered a nursing career at Charlottetown Hospital graduating in 1962. In 1963, she married her life partner Ron Nelson.
Joanne leaves her husband Ron, children Carolanne Nelson and Michael (Jennifer) Nelson, grandchildren Kaelyn and Benjamin Nelson She is also survived by her siblings Allison (Marylou), Bernadette (Ron), Phyllis (Ed), Frances, Simeon, Kevin, Sally (Al), David and Michael (Angie).
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Bonventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Calgary at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 10:30 a.m with a Memorial Mass to be held in Kinkora, P.E.I. at a later date.

Joanne’s family is grateful for the special care provided by the physicians and staff at the ALS Clinic, the ALS Society Members, Home Care personnel, as well as the special personal attention given by Ana that eased Joanne’s journey so much.
