Bill and Evelyne have 11 Great Grandchildren (6 boys and 5 girls). He is also survived by his sister Barbara (Adeline) of Calgary and one sister-in-law Iris of Moose Jaw. Also numerous nephews and nieces and their families. Bill's family moved in from the farm in 1945, Bill didn't like the city life so he returned to the farm at age 14 alone and looked after the animals and chores and attended Dendron school. He stayed there about a year then came back to Swift Current where he attended Central School. He left school early and worked at the SC Locker Plant, CPR, Motorways, and Elmwood Grocery and then returned back to SC Locker Plant in 1954 and worked there till 1962. He experienced heart issues and had to change his career, doing some work with the Casket Company and then started to work as Head Caretaker in 1963 at Begg School. He worked at the school till health issues forced him to early retirement in 1990. Bill's faith in his Lord was strong, he kept it a very important part of his life. Through all the heart operations etc. his belief kept him going. Bill enjoyed family gatherings, camping, family visits, practical jokes, drawing, fishing, wood work, watching western movies and tinkering which kept him busy throughout the years. His love of music was the largest part of his life. Bill self-taught himself and played by ear– guitar, mandolin, banjo, recorder, accordion and harmonica. He even tinkered with the organ and played a few songs. He played his instruments in church and later played at Country Church, in a group called Sod Busters and Hymn Sing. At family functions there was always music and Bill would be in the middle of it. He married Evelyne Parsons at the Parsons farm just east of Swift Current on Oct 19, 1954 and they raised their 3 sons in Swift Current. Bill attended many hockey games of theirs and later attended his grandchildren's hockey, soccer and Air Cadet activities. He loved spending time with them and worried about them all the time. He was now enjoying spending time with the next generation of great grandbabies. His family has requested donations to be given to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Cancer Society in his name. The Funeral Service was held Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 2:00 pm from Alpine Church with Pastor Alex Allan officiating. Pianist was Sharon Penny and a solo was sung by Pam Schwartz.
