It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Lindsay Kristen Gayle Wry-Rosario, age 28 years, of Sackville, NB and Fort McMurray, AB. Lindsay passed away peacefully at the University of Alberta Hospital, Edmonton, AB following post-operative complications after battling cancer, on January 27th 2015.
Born in Moncton, NB she was the daughter of Norman and Gayle (Hicks) Wry.
Lindsay graduated from Tantramar Regional High School, Sackville, NB and followed with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD), Halifax, NS. After Graduating from NSCAD Lindsay then moved to Fort McMurray, AB where she worked for Heritage Park, Suncor and the Keyano College Foundation. In appreciation for her dedication, outstanding work ethic and achievements, Heritage Park is constructing a memorial in her name and the Keyano Foundation is setting up a scholarship fund in her name to remember our dear Lindsay. During her time at Suncor she was honoured, by the Wood Buffalo municipality, with a Gold Star Award for outstanding dedication and service while she hosted educational tours of the Oil Sands facilities.
Lindsay loved life and was known for her kindness, generosity and dedication towards family and friends. She was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors. She had a great love for all animals. She spent many hours volunteering her time for many causes including the Relay for Life which is a charity fundraiser for Cancer research. In addition, Lindsay was an amazingly talented artist. Her work spanned from pastel drawings to printmaking to photography. She was a truly gifted person, a courageous individual and a selfless mother.
Lindsay will be sadly missed by her husband Royce Rosario of Fort McMurray, AB; her baby daughter Arabella Rosario; parents Norman and Gayle Wry; sibling Nathan Wry, grandmother Helen Hicks; niece Leila Wry; Mother, father and sister in law, Fatima, Francisco and Kimberly Rosario; Aunts and Uncles Helen and John McKay, Leon MacNeil, Judy and Bruce Stone, Diana Mukherjee and Randy Hicks, Nancy Tower; all of her cousins and numerous friends.
Lindsay was predeceased by her grandparents, Norman and Jean Wry and her Aunt Barbara MacNeil. She predeceased her grandfather Robert Hicks.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St Sackville, N.B., (506-364-1300). Lindsay was cremated and a service was held on 4th of Feb 2015, World Cancer day. There will be an evening of remembrance at Jones Funeral Home, Sackville NB on Friday July 10th 2015 from 6:00-9:00 pm. Internment will take place in Sackville, NB at a later date.
