Brian Agnew

AGNEW, BRIAN WILLIAM LEO
We are sad to let you know that Brian has passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015.
So many have said they are lucky to have known him. He leaves behind his wife of 26 years, Lori (Desjardins) Agnew; daughter, Jessica Agnew and son, Ben Agnew; father, Glen Agnew; sister, Carrie Bauer (Bruce); brother, Jason (Karen); many in-laws, nieces, nephews; friends and co-workers, as well as many players and coaches throughout the years.
Brian was predeceased by his mother, Rita (Vaillant) Agnew in 2007.
Although he was taken earlier than we expected, he lived a championship life. Brian’s involvement in NB sports was broad. Whether it was playing, refereeing or coaching, Brian gave everything he had and that was the only way he knew how. He led teams to Provincial and Maritime championships. Along the way, he earned the NB Football Lifetime Achievement Award and was a finalist for NFL Canadian Coach of the year. His most meaningful accomplishment to him was leading “Team Agnew” and building a strong, loving, respectful family. Mission accomplished.
As a coach, Brian made a difference in a lot of people’s lives; some for a brief moment; some forever. He sought to bring out the best in players and coaches, seeing what they had to offer before they knew they had it in them.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Brian didn’t want a funeral service, instead he asked everyone to gather, have a beer and tell stories. What a great way to celebrate someone’s life! We ask that you join us at the Chris Rock Tavern, 48 Albert Street, on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm to raise a glass to an incredible man.
Please do not send flowers. Instead, you can honor Brian by paying it forward and making a difference in someone’s life. You can share with us your thoughts or leave condolences at
