Glenn Wallace

WALLACE, GLENN MARION
With sadness the family announces the passing of Glenn Marion (Friars) Wallace at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, July 12, 2015. Born in 1941, in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Irene and Frank Friars and her birth mother Meda Friars.
Glenn was very artistic, which in her early life found expression in music and dance; strands of this mixed with forays into the visual arts world accompanied her life through a career of nursing and raising a family of three.
She started painting full time in 1999 in the expressionistic abstract genre. She envisioned her art as a parallel with life, a path through multi-layered and richly textured worlds creating dramatic passageways. Her paintings were a fluid unmapped layered process, bursting with colour and form. The content/significance of her work reflected her interaction with the complexity of the world around her.
She was inspired by having mentors who could see beyond the shapes in their own work. She participated in solo and group exhibitions and has many paintings in private collections in Canada, Ireland and the U.S.
Her grandchildren, who all had benefited from their relationship with Glenn were of great enjoyment and comfort to her through life.
Glenn lived in the moment and loved without judgement. She possessed an inner strength that invited intimacy and comfort. The loss is great.
Glenn is survived by her husband Mac of fifty three years; daughters Cindy Jo Orser (George) of Cobourg, Ontario, Melany Joy Steen (James) of Saint John; son Michael Joseph Wallace (Sylvie) of Laval Quebec; sisters Linda Chappell (Arnold) of Charlottetown PEI, Patricia Watters (James) of Sussex NB; grandchildren Genny, Nick, Jamie, Dylan, Jesse, Cassandra and Lindsay, several nieces, nephews and her friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A Celebration of Life will take place on August 16th, 2015. Please check back on the Fundy Funeral Home web page for details.
