(1945 - 2015)
REXTON, NB - Diana Kenney 70, of Rexton passed away peacefully at the Dr. George-L. Dumont University Hospital, Moncton, NB on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Broughton, Lincolnshire, England, she immigrated to Canada arriving on the Acquataine at Pier 21 in Halifax, October 1948. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and late Rose (Chudley) Hebert.
Before retiring, Diana was a school teacher for 33 years and dedicated her life to continuous learning. Her caring spirit was best demonstrated through her compassion and concern for abused and abandoned animals.
Diana will be sadly missed by her two sisters, Dawn Ross of Sydney, Australia, Angela McLaren of West Branch; two brothers, Christopher Hebert (Betty) of Richibouctou-Village, David Hebert (Heidi) of Calgary; nieces and nephews, Kendra Morton (Darrell), Jeffery McLaren (Renee), Joseph Ross, Lauren Ross Griffin (Benedict), Jonathan Ross, Gregory Ross; great-nieces and nephews, Patrick, Madison, Abigail, Kaleb and Anwen.
She was predeceased by her beloved son, Stefan Kenney (1996); infant sister, Mary and niece Kimberley Rose.
Visitation will be at Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday at 9:00 am until departure for the funeral. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015 at 11:30 am, Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Rexton. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Donations in Diana's memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Cancer Society - "The Lodge That Gives", 5826 South Street, Halifax, NS, B3H 1S6 or to the Kent County Animal Rescue and would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements are in care of Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
