BASS, ROBERTA ARVILLA
(1928-2015)
Mrs. Roberta A. Bass of North Head, Grand Manan Island, NB passed away at The Grand Manan Hospital on Monday, July 13, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Viola (Roberts) Ingersoll.
Roberta had worked different jobs in the fish industry before she took a position in the kitchen of the Grand Manan Hospital, from where she retired. She was a member of the Church of Ascension, The Ladies Guild, she loved Bingo, but what she loved the most was a good game of cards. If her family or her friends were unable to play, she would set up a card game with three or four players, and she would play all the hands just for the practice. She will be missed by her family and her friends at Rotary Isle.
Roberta is survived by her daughter Maris Cormier (Luc) of Moncton, NB and her son Robert Bass (Maxine Wilson) of Grand Manan. Five grandchildren; Robin Cormier (Jason Van Houten) of Halifax, NS, Renee Cormier (Tom Gardali) of Inverness CA, Sara Cormier (Kevin McNeill) of Calgary, AB, Jonathan Bass of North Head and Lawrence Bass (Kelly) also of North Head. Five great-grandchildren Harley, Ewan, Jasper, Justice, and Adam, also many nieces and nephews.
Roberta is predeceased by her husband Harold F. Bass (1994), her grandson Christopher Bass (2002), great-grandson Blaire Bass (2010), her daughter-in-law Brenda Bass (2013), one sister Bonna Parker and two brothers Herbert Ingersoll and Lawson Ingersoll.
There will visitation on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm at Ells funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at The Church of Ascension, North Head, Friday, July 17, 2015 at 1:30pm. Interment will be at the North Head Cemetery. There will be a reception at The Rotary Ilse Estate.
Roberta’s family has requested donations to be made to The Grand Manan Hospital Foundation, The Grand Manan Nursing Home or to the donor’s choice.
