PICTOU - Carolyn Graham (Wall) MacQuarrie, late of Pictou, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 19, 2015. She was born in New Glasgow in 1925.
After completing school she attended Maritime Business College and worked at Trenton Steel Works office. In 1945, she married Dr. William MacQuarrie and they raised their family in Trenton and New Glasgow before moving to Little Harbour to retire. After closing her house, she lived at Valley View Villa in Riverton and The Maritime Odd Fellows Home in Pictou.
Carolyn volunteered many years to the Aberdeen Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Heather Figure Skating Club, was a Gyrette and belonged to several local sports and recreational clubs and organizations. She was a long time Accountant Judge with CFSA. For thirty years she volunteered as area Secretary for CNIB. She was a member of Little Harbour Presbyterian Church and served on the Board of Session.
In later life, she had a successful career as a real estate agent. She enjoyed yachting, dogs, many sports, local history, genealogy and socializing with friends. She occupied any spare time with her many hobbies. She and Bill enjoyed travelling to many places during their fifty-seven years together. She is survived by children: William (Barbara) of Bedford; Janet Cameron of New Glasgow and G. Peter of Halifax; grandchildren: Leah (Al) of Smiths Falls; Janet (Ted), Sackville; Lauren (David) of Kanata; David (Karla) of Plymouth; Graham (Diane) of Calgary; Brian (Risa) of Hatchet Lake; Adam (Melanie) of Bedford; Karen of Halifax; great-grandchildren Carlin; Rowan; Abbey; Poppy; Cody; Alexander; Andrew; Arron, Leo and Madeline; also brother-in-law Donald Amos, Kitchener; sister-in law Anne Algie, Sault St. Marie and brother-in-law Robert Dunsmore, Oakville. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and enjoyed following their lives and growing families. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, parents Ralph and Janet (nee Graham) Wall, sister Greta (Wall) Amos and son-in-law Alexander Cameron.
The family wish to thank Dr. R. Burrill and all staff of The Maritime Odd Fellows home for their professional care and for the love and compassion they gave our mother.
A funeral service will be held at Little Harbour Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, July 22, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Lorne MacLeod officiating. Interment will be in Church Brook Cemetery beside her loving husband Bill. A reception will follow in the church hall. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to Little Harbour Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, Aberdeen Health Foundation, Pictou Co. Historical Society, CNIB or any charity of choice.
