Betty Marguerite Cruickshank

Cruickshank, Betty Marguerite, passed away peacefully June 23, 2015 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, at the age of 83. Born in Truro she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Leta (Ward) Maxwell. Betty loved her children and adored her grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Truro. She had been involved over the years with Girl Guides and the Colchester Arthritis Society. She and Hugh had remained active with the Colchester Highland Dance Association long after her daughters stopped dancing. She especially enjoyed Friday night card games with Marilyn, Allan, Albert, Anne and Ron.
Betty is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Hugh; daughters, Margaret (Richard) Groves, Enfield, NS; Debbie (Jamie) Bernard, Long River, PEI; grandchildren, Rachel and Maya Groves and Mitchell and Hillary Bernard; sister-in-law Isabel Cruickshank; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Vernon; sisters Hazel, Alice, Doris and Shirley.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro from where visitation will take place from 12:45 to 1:45 followed by funeral service on Saturday, July 25th at 2:00 pm. Reverend Dr. David Sutherland will officiate with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Robie Street Cemetery, Truro. Donations in Betty’s honour may be made to St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church or to a charity of choice.
