It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Roddie MacIsaac, age 53, on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the Northside General Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in North Sydney on July 1, 1962, he was the son of Martin and Margaret 'Peggy' (Maxwell) MacIsaac.
Roddie worked for the last number of years alongside his brother Allister at Cape Breton Fencing. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting with his good friends John and Ann Buchanan and Randy and Nicole McGraw. He was also an avid Montreal Canadiens fan. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney.
Besides his parents Peggy and Martin, Roddie is survived by his loving wife Mary Lou Burt, his two sons Jason (Tammy), Bras d’Or, Jeffrey (Danielle), North Sydney, one daughter Terrilyn (Jeff), at home, his two beautiful grandchildren Hannah and Madisyn, his brothers Allister (Edith), North Sydney, Darrell (Leona), Sydney Mines, Martin (Tracy), North Sydney, his sisters Diane (Lloyd) Gillis, North Sydney, Martina (Wayne) King, New Glasgow, Sharon (Eric) MacLeod, Sydney Mines, Cecilia (Willis) Ayres, North Sydney, Maureen (David) Devoe, North Sydney, many nieces and nephews and his best friend Gerard MacDonald.
There will be no visitation by request, cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
