Sid Lotherington fancy dresser, and accomplished gambler, steel worker, coach, father and best friend, died on Thursday, July 23, 2015 peacefully in his sleep after losing a battle to cancer.
Sid was relatable and loveable. He’s not a man who focused on a laundry list of impressive academic or career accomplishments. He’s a guy who ate frenchfries and tasteless meat and considered it a splurge to buy groceries when there was no sale. We all know someone like Sid, or perhaps we have Sid qualities ourselves.
The honesty and humour found in Sid Lotherington was rare.
Sid Lotherington leaves behind his wife, Nancy (MacNeil) and two sons Stephen (Sara Lynn) and Michael (Krishna) and five grandchildren John, Nicholas, Hayden, Emma, and Ryder. His siblings Doreen, Edward, Sheila, Charles (Susan), Kenny (Wanda), Gordon (Jody), Valerie as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Sid and Gladys Lotherington and a sister in infancy.Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held 3-4 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2015 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney with a celebration of life to follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
