SWAN, LAURIE ALLEN
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of a dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Laurie Allen Swan of Prince William, NB, surrounded by his family at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Friday, July 24, 2015 when Laurie left this life to join his ‘Heavenly Father’. He was born in Harvey, NB on August 16, 1948 to Herb and Allene Swan. Laurie will be sadly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Survived by the love of his life, high school sweetheart and wife of 43 years, Bonnie (Dunham) Swan; a son, Dustin Swan (Amanda); a daughter Krystal Mercer (Greg); four grandchildren, Brooklyn and Austin Swan, Hudson and Thatcher Mercer. Also survived by a brother, Dale Swan (Rea); a nephew, Alex Swan; a brother-in-law, Lawrence Dunham (Connie); a sister-in-law, Dawna Grimwade (Steve); several nieces and nephews and his much loved dog, CoCo.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Paul Swan; a nephew, Michael Swan; his parents-in-law, Lawrence and Bertha Dunham and a brother-in-law, Glen Dunham.
Laurie worked as an accountant for Consolidated Durham Mines and later for Dunham’s Contracting. In 1985 he founded LAD Fisheries, raising salmon smolts, which he operated for over twenty years with his son Dustin. Laurie then returned to Dunham’s Contracting where he resumed his accounting position until his death.
Laurie loved life. His family was his top priority, always waiting for and still is, the next time we can be together.
Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Monday evening from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held from Sunset Church, 429 Clements Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. Richard Bragdon officiating. Interment at the Prince William Cemetery.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Laurie, the family has suggested the Prince William Cemetery or a charity of the donor’s choice.
