John McInnis

McINNIS, JOHN SYDNEY
With heavy hearts, the family of John S. McInnis announce his peaceful passing, in the company of his loving daughter, on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Sault Ste. Marie, on October 31, 1944, he is the son of the late Sidney and Grace (MacDonald) McInnis and beloved husband of the late Judith Anne (Lietz) McInnis, who passed in 1996.
Dad's career started at Ford Motor Company in London, Ontario following graduation from the University of Western Ontario. His double major of English and Physical Education served him in unexpected ways as a Guidance Counsellor at Kennebecasis Valley High School for nearly 25 years. Although struggles with his health forced him to grudgingly retire in 1999, he told many tales of his time there, and made many lasting friendships. He enjoyed spending time at the RKYC around the corner from his apartment, and loved boating and all things related. Dad was an avid golfer, holding the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and various other duties at the Hampton Golf and Country Club. He loved to garden and spent many winters as a ski instructor for Poley Mountain. Dad lived for reading novels, and would spend hours and hours lost in a book.
John is survived by his daughter Laurie (Darren Smith) McInnis of Fredericton, NB., son Scott McInnis of Seattle, Washington, brother Terry (Barb) McInnis of Sault Ste. Marie, ON, as well as several extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife Judith, he was predeceased by his sister Sally McInnis.
Arrangements entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visiting Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 1, 2015 from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 1 pm. The Hampton Golf and Country Club is pleased to host a small gathering in John’s memory following the funeral service.
"We love and miss you, Dad."
Donations in memory of John made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. To sign the guestbook or to send a message of condolence please visit www.fundyfuneralhome.com
