Agnes Quark
On July 25, 2015 at the age of 95 years, Agnes Amelie Quark passed away peacefully at home with family by her side. Agnes was predeceased by Frederick “Eric” Quark, her husband of almost 63 years, in 2004; her parents, James and Malfrid Cropp; two brothers, Bruce and Harry Cropp; and sister-in-law, Jean Cropp. Agnes will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her six children, Mildred (John) of Ft McMurray, AB, Sylvia (Terry) of Edmonton, Fern (Ed) of Birch Hills, SK, Dan (Lana) of Mossbank, SK, Kathy (Rick) of Prince Albert, SK and Linda (Barry) of Moose Jaw, SK.,14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. Agnes is also survived by and fondly remembered by 2 sisters-in-law, Ruby Bennett and Kay Quirk, many dear nieces and nephews, and numerous other relatives. Agnes grew up in the Mossbank area and taught school at Marchmont and Estelle. She married Eric in October 1941 and lived on the Quark farm south of Mossbank for 37 years. The Quark farm quickly became the location of choice for large family gatherings, holidays and special events. It was not uncommon to see Agnes serving 15-25 people at mealtime so she was kept very busy. The entire extended family always knew they were welcome at any time and throughout the years Agnes carried on with quiet competence, never complaining, with a smile on her face. In 1978, Eric and Agnes moved to Moose Jaw and thoroughly enjoyed their retirement years. They travelled far and wide, enjoyed socializing with extended family who also lived in Moose Jaw and were overjoyed as their children and grandchildren came home to visit often. Agnes' life revolved around family and she was always the happiest when they came to visit especially when the little grandchildren were there.
After Eric passed away, Agnes was able to remain in their home in Moose Jaw for over 7 years. Linda, her youngest daughter, lived close by and visited her often and the rest of family came to Moose Jaw regularly to help and visit Agnes. In November, 2011 Agnes decided to move to Edmonton to live with one of her daughters. During the 3 1/2 years in Edmonton, Agnes continued to enjoy having lots of family around her as many of them lived in Edmonton and came over to see her often and family who didn't live close by also came as often as they could. A week never went by without one or more of her children, grandchildren or other relatives stopping by to visit. To them all, Agnes was, as always, a gentle, loving and very special lady and we will all hold very fond memories of her in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice. A celebration of Agnes' life will be held at Piche-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapel in Assiniboia, SK at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2015. Interment will take place at the Mossbank Cemetery.
