We regret to announce the passing of Agnes Rita MacIntyre, 98 on Monday July, 27, 2015 at the Northside Community Guest Home, where she had been living for the last 11 months, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Southside Boularderie on Dec. 17, 1916, she was the daughter of the late James and Christie (Steele) MacNeil. Agnes was a devoted member of St. Joachim Church, and lifelong resident of Southside Boularderie.
Agnes was a woman of very deep faith. She loved spending time with her family. Some of her favourite pastimes were, gardening, listening to Celtic music and playing cards.
Agnes is survived by her only son, Rod and his wife, Charlotte, who were also her caregivers for many years. Grandchildren, Veronica (Robb) MacNeil; children, Jaclyn, Jamee, Robbyn; Hector (Anita), children Daniel, Sarah, Bhreagh; Marina (Brad) Wile, children Matt, Alaina, Jeremy; Carolyn (Vick) Finlayson, children, Jackson and Taylor; Roger (Kristin) their son, Rory. Along with her sister, Lucy Muise and “special daughter” Pennie Redmile, Montreal.
Besides her parents, Agnes was predeceased by her loving husband, Hector in 1971, along with six brothers and five sisters.
Visitation for the late Agnes MacIntyre will be held in the JM Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 6-9 p.m. A celebration of Agnes’ life will take place on Thursday at 3 p.m. in St. Joachim Church, Southside Boularderie with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery, with reception to follow in the Southside Boularderie Firehall.
