Lorne Fisher

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lorne Edwin Fisher announce his passing on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at home with his loving family by his side.
Born in Amherst on December 17, 1945, he was a son of the late Garnet and Marguerite (Baisley) Fisher of Shinimicas.
He attended the Nova Scotia Agriculture College. He was a member of the Sunrise 4H Club winning an award trip West. He was a former member of the Federation of Agriculture and operated his own business for Don Seeds for a number of years. Lorne worked for Department of Transportation, Nova Scotia for thirty years. After his retirement he followed his dream of moving to Alberta, Peace River to work for Department of Transportation in that area for three and a half years where he was still employed at the time of his death.
He was a member and Trustee of Sunrise Trinity United Church, and Fire Chief of the Shinimicas Fire Department for over 25 years. Lorne enjoyed spending time with his family and especially with the grandchildren taking little drives on the four wheeler through the woods and fishing. Over the last few years Lorne and Marjorie enjoyed travelling, an Alaskan cruise and road trips to Yellowknife and BC to visit school buddies was memories Lorne cherished. He enjoyed his time working and had many good memories of the friends he had made both in NS and Peace River.
Lorne will be sadly missed by his wife Marjorie (Angevine) Fisher, three sons Darren (Monica) Shinimicas, Kevin (Mandy) Amherst and Ryan (Lissa) Montreal, grandchildren Owen and Mya, Mackenzie, Abigale and step-grandson Dakota, sister Marilyn Sparling (Bob) Ottawa, On and two nephews, Greg (Kim) Sparling and Mike (Shannon) Sparling and their families Ottawa, Ontario, Mother-in-law Jean Wood (Bun) Wentworth and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 2 – 4 and 7-9 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst. (902-667-9906)
Funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. from Amherst Head United Church with Mrs. K. Ruth Gamble DLM officiating.
Interment will take place in the Shinimicas Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Lorne’s memory may be made to the Cumberland County Hospice Society or the charity of your choice.
