It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Patricia 'Patsy' Ann Green, 58, passed peacefully Thursday morning, July 30, 2015, in Baddeck, surrounded by family and friends.
Born and raised in North Sydney, Patsy was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Madden) Rahey. She was a graduate of the Nova Scotia Teacher’s College. In 1978, Patsy and her husband Ford settled in Baddeck to raise their family.
Patsy was a beloved teacher at Baddeck Academy for 35 years. She taught music for 21 years, inspiring students in Boularderie, North Shore, North River and Middle River. She taught grade four for the remainder of her career. In addition to teaching, Patsy spent her time making quilts, jewellery, crafts, and her beautiful tole paintings. She had a brilliantly creative mind and she valued imagination. A lover of Star Wars, geology, owls, wizards and dragons, Patsy lived with nothing short of unbridled passion.
Patsy was heavily involved in her community, volunteering for events like the Terry Fox Run and Lion’s Christmas Wish. She was a breast cancer survivor, a devoted wife, and a proud mother and grandmother.
Patsy is survived by her husband, Ford Green; her sons, Donald (Jennifer Anderson), Patrick (Sheena Moore) and Joshua (Alisha Hosein); sister, Marlene (John Bailey); brother, Robert Rahey (Deborah MacKinnon) and grandson, Anderson Green.
She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Rahey.
The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. David Heughan, Dr. John Ritter, Dr. Roland Genge, and all the dedicated staff at Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Home Care Nova Scotia, Palliative Care and the Cape Breton Cancer Centre.
Visitation for Patsy will be held Tuesday, Aug. 4th from 4-9 p.m. at MacAskill Funeral Home, 43 Grant Street, Baddeck. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, Aug. 5th at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Abbass officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Society of Victoria County or the Terry Fox Foundation.
“May the force be with you.”
